Outer bark yellowish brown, smooth when young, cracking and flaking off when mature
Leaves bipinnate, spirally arranged, pinnae 3-5 pairs, the basal ones smaller, glands conspicuous between bases of pinnae; leaflets oblong to obovate, opposite, 3-7 pairs per pinna
Flowers whitish, with numerous stamens, in subterminal racemes.
Fruit a pod, flat, straight or slightly curved, woody, brown hairy when young, tardily dehiscent; seeds oblong, flattened, with hard testa.

Soil type: V. parviflora tolerates a wide range of soils but occurs mostly on dry limestone soils. (Orwa et al., 2009)

Seedlings are ready for outplanting when they reached a height of 35-40 cm 6 months after transplanting.

WOOD USES: For high-grade interior work, cabinet making, gunstocks, pattern making, carving and sculpture. The highly figured logs make excellent veneer stock.
